This pass provides free admission to more than 2,000 federal recreation sites, wildlife refuges, and forests, including National Parks. However, the pass does not cover special tours, camping, or special recreation permits. Veterans and gold star families should check with their local park service for specific policies. The National Park Service offers free passes to Gold Star families. You can download an application for the pass here. Note that the pass does not cover expanded amenity fees, organized group activities, or concession-operated activities. However, most states offer free entrance to their public lands for members of the military, including the National Park Service. Families of Gold Stars and veterans can obtain the pass online. The pass is free for Gold Star Families, the immediate family members of deceased members of the United States armed forces.
